Quinze pour cent des admissions dans les services de réanimation concernent les intoxications. Une étude originale faite grâce à la base CUBRea et présentée dans cet ouvrage montre, sur une période de 12 ans, un accroissement inquiétant de la gravité et un doublement de la mortalité des intoxications, qui doit interpeller les médecins prenant en charge ces patients. Les intoxications aiguës ont fait jusqu’ici l’objet de nombreuses publications essentiellement pour les médecins urgentistes et les toxicologues qu'ils soient pharmaciens ou cliniciens travaillant dans les centres antipoison.
