Tra i tanti problemi che la sclerosi multipla comporta, gli aspetti psicopatologici sono stati presi in considerazione dai ricercatori soltanto in epoca recente. Infatti, gli ultimi vent’anni hanno visto in questo campo un progressivo incremento di studi sperimentali e clinici, che hanno cercato di chiarire gli aspetti epidemiologici, clinici, eziologici e terapeutici dei vari disturbi psicopatologici riscontrati frequentemente nei pazienti con sclerosi multipla.
